Dance Student Spotlight: Danna Roberta Rodriguez Chavez

My name is Danna Roberta Rodriguez Chavez, 9, and I live in Monterrey, NL. I dance at Estudio de Danza Maries.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.

I started dancing when I was 2 1/2 years old. When I turned 4, I was invited to be part of the dance company at my academy.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

No, I've had to work a lot on myself, mainly my legs and feet.

What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?

I thought I wouldn't be able to be as good as the girls that danced in the company because they were older than me.

How do you conquer negative talk?

I believe in myself and what I'm able to do.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?

I want to have a dance academy and give classes at conventions.
