Meet Clara Yip, 12, from Hong Kong Gymnastics.
Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Clara has been self teaching herself until last month. I started attending courses in HKGA. I had some natural flexibility and a great passion for dance, so I was over thrilled when I knew I could go to her first dance class!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t. At first, I always fell and hurt myself. It has been a tough experience. But soon, after a lot of practice, I did it.

What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?
No.
Has anybody ever tried to limit you on what you could do? If so how did you fight it?
Yes. I tried to do more. More and more. That’s how I improved quicker.

How do you conquer negative talk?
I like to do a handstand. I know, it’s stupid. But it really helps! Forget my worries and continue dancing.
What is your favorite quote?
Nothing is impossible, even the impossible.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Practice more and be a better dancer! Continue practising and stretching!💖
