Meet Amber Skaggs, 16, from Scottsdale, Arizona and dance and Master Ballet Academy.
Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started dancing at age 7 at Club Dance Studio. When I was 9 I started focusing more on ballet at Master Ballet Academy and I have been there ever since!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not, I have faced many challenges and still do.
What personal limitations if any did you go through in your young career?
Yes, but looking back my limitations came more from myself and my own insecurities.
Has anybody ever tried to limit you on what you could do? If so how did you fight it?
Yes, of course. I try to just keep working hard and focus on myself.
How do you conquer negative talk?
I try to ignore the negative comments and focus on the good.
What is your favorite quote?
“Don’t get sidetracked by people who are not on track.”
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As of right now I do not have any big plans because of what is happening in our world right now. Although, I hope to change that soon.
