s a new season of dance, school, and extracurriculars is upon us, it is important to be able to find balance and inner peace amidst a busy schedule. We gathered some of our favorite tips to staying balanced while managing a busy schedule.

Keep It Clean

Staying organized and clean will not only reduce that stress of “Oh, where did I put that?”, but it will free up more of your time. If you are not the organized type, keeping on task with cleaning can be difficult. We suggest starting off with a small aspect such as your school locker. Have a goal of keeping it clean for a month, once you accomplish this move onto something else like your bedroom.

Pro-tip: Organize with color and label EVERYTHING. For example, have a color for each subject in school and label all your materials with your name and the subject.

Prioritize

Take time to reflect and prioritize the aspects of your life. Write out a list of the parts of your life that takepriority. What is your number one priority? Family, faith, school, dance? When it comes to making decisions when your schedule conflicts with itself, refer back to your list and select the option that reflects what you value most.

Respect Yourself

An important part of finding balance and peace in a busy schedule is learning to respect yourself. Part of this is recognizing that we all have limits as to how much we can handle at once. Thus, don’t be afraid to say no to other events when you are feeling overwhelmed.

Pro-tip: Dedicate a specific time each day for you. During this time do something that relaxes you such as meditation, yoga, or reading.

Limit Distractions

Learn how to limit distractions in your life. While technology is awesome for networking and learning in new ways, it can also waste a lot of time in the day. Consider getting an app that tracks your phone usage to find out how much of your time is spent on technology. Also, reflect on what typically distracts you. Is it your phone, the TV, siblings or something else?\

Prepare

Prepare yourself for the next day the night before. Layout your school outfit, pack your dance bag, and write out a to-do list for the next day. Staying organized and being prepared will help you get focused for the next day.

Pro-tip: Have a planner where you can keep track of everything from school to dance. Mapping out future events in advance will allow you time to prepare.
