4 More Fall Festivals Around The World

Even if you’re on holiday break, learning doesn’t have to stop. (Also, make sure you go check out 4 Fall Holidays Around The World for part 1.) Today, we’re unpacking even more holidays celebrated around the world.

  1. Yulan Festival (Hungry Ghost Festival)

This holiday is celebrated in China, where spirits roam around the earth for money and food. People will burn paper offerings and leave food outside.

  1. Samhain

This holiday is celebrated in Ireland and is said to be the root of what Halloween is today. “There are bonfires [and] festivities” to celebrate this event (Greenheart Travel In Inspiration for Travel, n.d.).

  1. Yom Kippur

This Jewish holiday is celebrated in September and October. During this time Jews will fast, pray, and avoid work.

  1. Oktoberfest

This holiday was originally celebrated in Germany (there are now celebrations throughout the world). This holiday is “well known for its promotion of beer” (Navarre, 2022).

All of these holidays are special in their own unique ways. What did you learn from this article? And make sure to follow our social media @more_than_dancers for more relatable dance content.
