Meet Richard Smith
Richard is a Jazz Teacher , Artistic Director, Dance team Coach, Adjudicator, Technical Consultant, and Motivator. He is a regional and national adjudicator and teacher for Applause Talent Presentations, Kids Artistic Revue, Dance Masters of Michigan, Bravo and Rainbow Connection in addition to teaching and choreographing for workshops, studios and companies throughout the U.S.
Richard Smith is currently the Artistic Director of Inaside Chicago Dance. In the past, Smith has been on the faculty at The Giordano Dance Center and the Joel Hall Dancers and Center. He has been affiliated with internationally touring Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, River North Chicago Dance Company, and Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre. He attended East Carolina University, in North Carolina, where he worked on a BFA in Dance Performance. The university allowed him to work with Mia Michaels, Mark Dendy, Katiti King, Frank Chaves, Alan Arnett and Tomi Overcash-Galaska.
He has also worked with Sir Elton John, and this July (2018) he will be attending the 360º Dance Festival.
What to Expect
This summer, Richard will be teaching jazz, technique, leaps and turns. Richard’s teaching is hands-on, he’ll be looking and focusing on alignment, manipulation of the body, strength, and origination of movement. He believes in having an emotional connection through dance, and his philosophies help dancers reach their highest artistic levels.
